How AI credits work
- Reports, dashboards, exports and viewing are free. Credits are only used for AI work.
- A typical AI answer uses 1-3 credits. You see the credits used under every answer.
- Reading documents is charged per page: digital pages free, scanned pages 1, image pages 4, tables 6. You see the estimate before anything is processed.
- Credits from all your plans go into one balance, usable in every product you subscribe to or are trying.
- Monthly credits stay 1 extra month. Annual plans add their credits every month.

Credit packs never expire. Available once you have a paid plan.
Questions
What is an AI credit?
Credits pay for AI work: answering your questions, reading documents, building trackers. Anything else in our products uses no credits.
What happens when I run out?
Reports and dashboards keep working. AI features ask you to add credits or move to a bigger plan.
Can I use one balance for several products?
Yes. Every plan on your CostTrail account adds to the same balance, and each product uses it.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, at any time. A bigger plan starts straight away; when you cancel, the plan runs until the end of the period you paid for. We never delete your data because of a plan change.
Is there a free trial?
Yes: 14 days of the Pro plan with 300 AI credits, once per product. No card needed.
Who handles payment?
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, which also handles sales tax and VAT.
